Booked taquiza for my sons graduation party! They arrived early to set up and start cooking on time. Everything was beautifully set up! The horchata was refreshing and delicious. Communication was great with the owner. 110% would recommend and use them again. My guest loved the food so much and couldn't stop talking about it. Thank you so much!

I love this place. The food is excellent, be sure to try their Carne en su jugo, which is my favorite. The restaurant itself is charming, the staff friendly, and the speed of service is excellent for a kitchen of this size. (usually one cook) Definitely the best in its immediate area. if you’re between Cicero and Kedzie, 89th to 103rd, it’s a must.

Soup was SO affordable. full af. fully cooked unpeeled potatoes were a surprise: but delightfully rustic. Just on the 10 soup entree. and coffee x1 refill.

Decor is bright and lovely, they have an extensive and very authentic variety of traditional mexican dishes, flavored and prepared to delicious perfection. My wife had a torta al pastor. I had three tacos, which were a taco al pastor, a taco de lengua (both topped with diced cilantro and white onion), and the restaurant chain special taco, the taco el chavis, which is carne asada, chorizo, and pinto beans (this is the taco in the picture I provided).

seeing 3 stars i was kinda of worried about if i should go or not but i took the risk so you wouldn’t have too. the service was GREAT!! my severs name was maria and she made us feel welcomed and took really great care of us she is very respectful and polite and she even engaged in a conversation with us as we dined in she was my favorite part of my visit. now the food was not horrible but not it at all , i had 3 tacos which were not even seasoned at all my boyfriend had a burrito which he did not like at all same again the meat was not seasoned and didn’t have flavor . after all i would not recommend if your looking for good food but the service was great .

I love El Chavis! My family now has a Taco Tuesday tradition, and El Chavis is the only restaurant that both has enough seats for us and great food. The owners and workers are generous, sweet, attentive, and never fail to greet us. The food is excellent -- we really do stick to tacos, but the fajitas get rave reviews from my parents. Specialty tacos like cecina, suadero, tripas and chile relleno are wonderful and authentic. Also, they finished renovations in the next storefront, so there's even more space. The atmosphere isn't luxurious, but this place is so much nicer than other taco joints, which are normally colder and more plasticky than cafeterias. We're so glad to have El Chavis around!

As I stepped into El Chavis, I was immediately struck by the charming ambiance and the warmth of the staff. Their commitment to service shines through, as detailed in Idania Shourek's review of their exceptional event catering for a graduation party. It’s clear that this is not merely a meal but a beautifully orchestrated experience, with the delicious horchata refreshing the palate amidst an exquisite spread of flavorful dishes.

The menu boasts standout items like the highly recommended Carne en su jugo, lauded by James Miller. This dish exemplifies the skill and dedication of the kitchen, where each ingredient is thoughtfully chosen and expertly prepared.
